The Russell County Jaycee Fair continues to grow after 100 years in existence. The fair was first held in Russell Springs in 1896 on August 23 - 26. The group organizing the fair was the Russell Springs Fair Association. The fair grounds
had the only regulation horse track in Russell and the surrounding counties. The track contained speed rings, thoroughbred races and pace and trot rings. Electricity came to Russell County 1928 and the fair began to make some big changes. The present day fair is a 10 day annual
event considered the "Biggest & Best County Fair in the State" hosted by the Russell County Jaycees.
The fair has a full Carnival every year featuring games, rides, displays, and food. Some of the other features of the fair are championship truck and tractor pulls, mud slings, demolition derbies, thoroughbred racing, championship horse shows, and championship horse pullings.
